内容简介:
The tectonometamorphic history of the Paleoproterozoic Pajala Deformation Zone in Northern Sweden has been the topic of a collaboration with the Swedish Geological Survey NGU. Structural, petrological and thermochronological work was carried out by VU M.Sc. students to further constrain the evolution of this zone. This presentation will focus on the metamorphic aspects of the work. Thermodynamic modelling using Perple_X provided insight in the role of manganese in stabilizing garnet and the effects this had on the estimates for the metamorphic conditions recorded by the rocks. Our interpretation of the history of the area will be presented and implications for thermodynamic modeling strategies will be discussed.
